Stained Glass 101
Discover the beauty of stained glass as you craft your own project. Beginning with the selection of some amazing glass options, you will learn all you need to know to complete a small panel that is structurally sound and will last for years, even generations. The panel can be hung in front of a window or backlit with the help of LED lighting. Always an emphasis on safety, students will learn to use glass cutters, grozing and breaking pliers, and the soldering iron. Gain experience in the use of foil (also known as the Tiffany method), solder, and polish to give your piece that stunning finished look. The history and evolution of stained glass art will be discussed throughout. This is the perfect class to learn about all aspects of stained glass, proper vocabulary and how to move forward on future projects.
Students are encouraged to bring their own safety glasses and gloves in preferred. We also require students to wear closed heel and toe shoes - no sandals when working with glass. |

Stained Glass NightLight Workshop
Nightlights perform an important function; they illuminate a small area such as a staircase, hallway, or bathroom. Yet, nightlights do not have to be cheap, ugly, or plastic! In fact, they can be exquisitely beautiful and, if crafted from stained glass, an heirloom piece that can be passed down from generation to generation.
In this 5-hour hands-on workshop, students will light their way creating a stained glass nightlight from patterns, hardware, and a HUGE selection of stained glass. Each student will learn to cut glass, copper foil, solder, patina, polish, and cam set their glass in a nightlight base. Students will be given instruction on how to focus their work on the structure and stability of the nightlight. This is a beginning class, so no experience necessary. Create a one-of-a-kind nightlight you can enjoy day and night! Students are encouraged to bring their own safety glasses and gloves preferred. We also require students to wear closed heel and toe shoes - no sandals when working with glass. |
