Sailing
My Philosophy...
Individual people learn in different ways and so I believe its important for an instructor to tailor the approach to the material to the student's preferred way of learning. For example with sailing I can explain on a whiteboard, or with a small model sailboat or directly with hands on the ropes and wind in the face. Most important is to be engaging.

My Story...
I learned to sail as a kid in Australia and spent every weekend racing smaller boats in the Melbourne area until I went to college in the USA. After grad school started working for Ford as an engineer and now 27 years later I am a production manager in a SE Michigan plant. I went back into sailing about 7 years ago as a way of finding joy and adventure in life. This time focused on larger cruising sailboats and repairing/renovating older boats as a hobby.. |
