My Philosophy...
I believe that what stops most people from doing something is fear, no matter how faint, that they can't do it. I believe they can and what I hear most from my students is that as an instructor I gave them confidence. That's the best I can hope for!

I teach folks how to sew clothes they love so that they feel beautiful, empowered, and connected. 14 years ago, I taught myself to sew clothing and fell madly in love, not only with my makes but with my body. I teach because it lights me up. And it’s that magic that I want to share.

My Story...
I was born in Hastings, Michigan. My Grandma was a factory worker by day and a seamstress by night. She made all of my formal dresses, pins pinched tightly in her mouth. Sadly, she passed before I could be bothered to sit down and learn a thing or two from her. But I like to think that when I sit down at my sewing machine she's there along side me.

About
14 years ago I found this sweet dress in a thrift store that seemed to be made for my exact body. A feat for certain, as I had spent much of my life tearfully searching for clothes that fit my, obvously very odd, body. This dress sparked an interest that became an inferno. To sew my own clothes and step away from the mainstream.  A natural student, I dove deeply into the mechanics of making clothes, the how's and why's of how fabric is made and the nuances of both fitting clothes to your body and pattern drafting.   I now live in Petoskey, Michigan where I am raising a 5-year-old, self-proclaimed inventor and renovating a wee home with reclaimed materials.
