Natural Dyer

Kristan Green

Kristan is an unconventional, innovative freelancer who enjoys creating and experimenting with natural botanical dyes. She enjoys seeing what magic and wonder plants hold and how they can transform their aliveness into wearable garments, as well as how natural dye processes align with her personal health and connection within community -- she loves being part of an ecosystem! Kristan grew up on the Eastern Shore of Maryland and has lived coast to coast from Portland, Maine to Seattle, Washington, and while this gal moves where her heart takes her, she now calls Pinckney, Michigan her home. Kristan is a former middle school art teacher, has owned her own brick and mortar vintage clothing store, and is now the current creator and owner of The Natural Dye Company.

Teaching is not simply an act—it is an experience, a living exchange of inspiration. When I step fully into my own creativity and process, I show up authentically as a teacher, and in turn, give my students permission to do the same. We are all life-long learners, discovering as we go. For me, it’s essential to create a container for experimentation, curiosity, and surrender—qualities that once felt like obstacles, that are now invaluable to my work, my body, my health, and my truest self. My hope is to offer my students the same invitation: to step into their own creativity and authenticity, in whatever form that may take for them.
